Jones Day, Sidley, Others Win Singapore Law Licenses

Law360, New York (February 19, 2013, 6:46 PM EST) -- The government of Singapore on Tuesday granted licenses to four foreign firms to practice in the city-state, further opening a legal market that has attracted a growing number of international firms in recent years.

The country's law ministry said on Tuesday it granted the so-called Qualifying Foreign Law Practice licenses to Jones Day, Linklaters LLP, Sidley Austin LLP and Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP. They were among nearly two dozen firms who applied to expand their businesses in the Southeast Asia business hub last year.
