Nigeria Cuts Off Talks With Pfizer In Drug Trial Case

Law360, New York (December 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- After talks with Pfizer Inc. hit a roadblock last week, Nigerian authorities have reportedly abandoned settlement negotiations in a case accusing the drug giant of carrying out illegal clinical trials that killed and disabled children.

Justice Commissioner Aliyu Umar said in a letter to Pfizer lawyer Anthony Idigbe that the Kano state government “is no longer inclined towards holding any direct discussions with Pfizer, its retained counsel or employees," Dow Jones reported Wednesday.
