Chevron, Transocean Workers Shake Charges Over Brazil Spill

Law360, New York (February 20, 2013, 5:05 PM EST) -- Seventeen Chevron Corp. and Transocean Ltd. employees facing criminal charges over a 2011 Brazilian offshore oil spill are off the hook, the companies said Wednesday, although Chevron still faces two $11 billion suits over the incident.

The 12 Chevron and five Transocean employees, including Chevron Brazil President George Buck, were accused of obstructing an investigation of authorities, failing to comply with environmental obligations, submitting a false emergency plan and illicit misrepresentation of documents submitted to authorities.
