GOP Says Interior Watchdog Shielded Officials

Law360, New York (February 21, 2013, 7:31 PM EST) -- The Republican chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee on Thursday accused the U.S. Department of the Interior’s inspector general of protecting Obama administration officials from investigations of misconduct, and called on the White House to replace her.

Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash., released a committee report alleging Acting DOI Inspector General Mary Kendall watered down probes of administration appointees, provided misleading information to the committee and courted officials in hopes of taking over the inspector general role permanently.
