FERC Updates Standards For Electricity Conservation Goods

Law360, New York (February 21, 2013, 4:48 PM EST) -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Thursday updated its standards for energy efficiency and other conservation products and services offered in wholesale electricity markets, which the regulator says will reduce transaction costs and allow more customers to participate in energy conservation programs.

The standards categorize various products and services for both energy efficiency and demand response, which is when customers reduce their electricity consumption from their expected consumption in response to electricity price increases of electric energy or incentive payments designed to encourage lower electricity consumption....
