Ky. Adds To GSK's Avandia Woes With 2nd State Suit

Law360, New York (February 21, 2013, 8:11 PM EST) -- The state of Kentucky on Wednesday accused GlaxoSmithKline PLC of deceptively marketing and concealing the risks of its blockbuster diabetes drug Avandia, making it the second state to sue the drugmaker that day.

Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway says GSK deceptively marketed the drug as a “significant advance” in the treatment of diabetes, despite the fact that it actually increased the risk of heart attack and other injuries for diabetics.
