Cow-Powered Ethanol Plant Files For Ch. 11

Law360, New York (December 6, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- E3 Biofuels Mead LLC, an ethanol plant in Kansas that derived its power from cow manure, became the latest of many ethanol producers to file for bankruptcy when it was unable to get back on its feet after a boiler explosion earlier this year.

The company sought Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Nov. 30 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Kansas. According to court filings, the first creditors' meeting is scheduled for Jan. 7, 2008 and a reorganization plan is due March 31,...
