Billionaire Pair Pays $3.6B For Tycoon's Polyus Gold Stake

Law360, New York (February 22, 2013, 12:29 PM EST) -- Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, through his private investment firm, on Friday unloaded his 37.8 percent stake in leading miner Polyus Gold International Ltd. to a pair of other billionaires, closing out a $3.6 billion sale that had previously been flagged by U.K. regulators.

Prokhorov, who also owns the Brooklyn Nets basketball team, handed over an 18.5 percent interest in the miner to Lizarazu Ltd., a vehicle controlled by retail magnate Zelimkhan Mutsoev, with the rest going to Receza Ltd., an affiliate of tycoon Gavril Yushvaev....
