FDA Puts Familiar Face At Head Of Tobacco Office

Law360, New York (February 22, 2013, 6:47 PM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced Thursday that a onetime agency official who spearheaded the FDA's unsuccessful attempt to regulate tobacco in the 1990s will return in March to head its new tobacco office.

Mitchell Zeller, an executive at the consultancy group Pinney Associates, will replace current director of the Center for Tobacco Products, Dr. Lawrence "Bopper" Deyton, who will leave the agency on March 4 to take a professor position at George Washington University, Commissioner Marget Hamburg said in an email to FDA employees....
