Japan FTC To Penalize Hose Makers For Cartel

Law360, New York (December 7, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Following an investigation that started in May, the Japan Fair Trade Commission on Friday decided to issue a cease-and-desist order against five marine hose manufacturers for fixing prices on marine hoses, which are used to load and unload oil from tankers.

The five manufacturers are Bridgestone Corp., Dunlop Oil & Marine, Trellebord Industrie, Parker ITR and Manuli Rubber Industries.

If the order goes through, it will be the first time the Japanese FTC has ever imposed administrative penalties on a foreign company.
