Sequester Will Delay Renewables Projects, Salazar Warns

Law360, New York (February 26, 2013, 7:02 PM EST) -- The Obama administration has authorized several renewable energy projects on public lands but approval of future projects — both renewable and fossil energy — will be hampered if sequestration become effective March 1, Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar said Tuesday.

Speaking at the Offshore Wind Power USA Conference in Boston, Salazar said the automatic budget cuts could delay the agency's ability to issue permits for new development, plan for new projects, conduct environmental reviews and lease new federal lands for future development.
