Court Upholds Stray Voltage Verdict Against Xcel

Law360, New York (December 7, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A state supreme court has upheld a $532,000 jury award to dairy farmers who claimed that stray voltage from Xcel Energy Inc.'s power distribution system injured their milk-producing cows.

In a 4 to 3 ruling, the Wisconsin Supreme Court on Thursday batted away Xcel's claims that the state circuit court was wrong to ignore the fact that the plaintiffs had missed the statute of limitations, finding that their claims were not time barred.
