US Chamber Report Disputes EPA Job Creation Claims

Law360, New York (February 27, 2013, 4:13 PM EST) -- The U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday released a report finding “striking omissions and inconsistencies” in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s assessments of the job creation potential of new regulations, which it links to declines in coal, steel and other industries.

The report, commissioned from economic research firm NERA by the Chamber in 2012, found that regulatory impact analyses put forth by the agency in connection with rulemaking have based optimistic job-creation prospects on outdated data, flawed methodologies and incomplete compliance cost estimations.
