Pa. Rep. Pushes Bills To Protect Against Fracking Mishaps

Law360, Philadelphia (February 27, 2013, 4:29 PM EST) -- A Pennsylvania representative on Monday introduced a package of legislation aimed at reducing Marcellus Shale drilling accidents and ensuring greater openness from the natural gas industry in the state.

The three bills brought forward by state Rep. Phyllis Mundy, D-Luzerne, would increase the required distance between gas wells and certain water sources, create an online tracking and reporting system for Marcellus Shale waste, and strengthen the safety requirements for transportation of the waste.
