Texas Bill Would Let Suits Be Served Via Facebook, Twitter

Law360, Dallas (February 28, 2013, 4:33 PM EST) -- A Texas lawmaker floated a bill Wednesday that would allow lawsuits in the state to be served over Facebook, Twitter or other social media sites in some circumstances where traditional means of service have failed.

Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano and an associate at Looper Reed & McGraw PC, introduced H.B. 1989, which would give courts the authority to approve service through a social media site when widely accepted methods like hand delivery or registered mail have failed.
