Obama To Seek Fast-Track Power On EU, Pacific Trade Pacts

Law360, New York (March 1, 2013, 2:10 PM EST) -- The Obama administration said Friday it would ask Congress for so-called fast-track authority to aid in continued negotiations on an Asia-Pacific free trade pact and in planned talks over a comprehensive free trade deal with the European Union.

In its annual trade agenda, the White House said it plans to seek the fast-tracking ability, formally known as Trade Promotion Authority, to aid in its bid to “further intensify” talks over the planned Trans-Pacific Partnership, and to help trade officials begin working on the so-called Trans-Atlantic Trade...
