Judge Bars Bechtel Docs In $1B Power Plant Row

Law360, New York (March 4, 2013, 7:07 PM EST) -- A federal judge on Monday overruled American Municipal Power Inc.'s objections to a magistrate judge's finding that emails about AMP and contractor Bechtel Power Corp. were subject to attorney-client privilege, barring the mistakenly disclosed documents from AMP's contract suit over a power plant project.

AMP sued Maryland-based Bechtel in 2011 after Bechtel unexpectedly raised its estimate of the construction costs of an AMP-owned coal-fired power plant by $1 billion in October 2009, forcing the co-op to scrap the project. AMP filed a breach of contract claim...
