DOJ After More Info On $11B American, US Airways Merger

Law360, New York (March 5, 2013, 4:20 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice is seeking more information from AMR Corp. and US Airways Group Inc. about their proposed $11 billion merger with respect to its potential antitrust implications, the airlines said Monday.

The DOJ has submitted a so-called "second request" for more information about the transaction pursuant to the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act. The carriers said a second request is a standard part of the regulatory process that requires them to wait until 30 days after the request is satisfied to close the deal....
