US-Iraq Trade Pact To Take Effect This Year, USTR Says

Law360, New York (March 6, 2013, 3:46 PM EST) -- The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative said Wednesday that the U.S.-Iraq Trade and Investment Framework Agreement, negotiated in 2005, would probably enter into force later this year, an announcement that comes after Iraq's Council of Representatives recently ratified the agreement's text.

The TIFA, signed by an assistant U.S. trade representative and Iraq's Minister of Finance in July 2005, created a joint council whose goals include finding opportunities for expanding trade and investment, removing impediments to trade and investment, and holding consultations on specific trade matters....
