Fla. Senate Panel Approves Citizens Insurance Reform Bill

Law360, Miami (March 7, 2013, 5:57 PM EST) -- The Florida Senate's Banking and Insurance Committee approved a bill Thursday that would enact major reform of state-created Citizens Property Insurance Corp. through provisions aimed at reducing the company's policy count and making the market more inviting to private insurers.

Addressing troubles at Citizens Insurance and drawing it back closer to its intended mission as the state's insurer of last resort is a high priority for the state Legislature in its new session that started this week.
