Court OKs NRC Allowance Of Uranium Facility

Law360 (December 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- An appeals court ruled Tuesday that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission did not break the law when it allowed the construction of a private facility in New Mexico to produce enriched uranium for nuclear reactors.

“We think it was a bad decision,” said Michael Mariotte, the executive director of the group Nuclear Information and Resource Service, which petitioned the court to reconsider the commission's decision last year. “We think that the courts didn't really understand the issues at stake.”
