D.C. Council Moves To Rein In Drug Industry

Law360, New York (December 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The City Council of the District of Columbia issued a blow to the prescription drug industry on Tuesday when it voted by a narrow margin to give initial approval to legislation that would make it the first jurisdiction in the country to require licenses for pharmaceutical sales representatives.

The D.C. Council's Committee of the Whole voted 7 to 6 on Tuesday in favor of the so-called SafeRx Act, which would regulate the practice of pharmaceutical sellers, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.
