DOE To Open $226M In Small Nuclear Plant Funding

Law360, New York (March 12, 2013, 2:50 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Energy Department said Monday that it would offer an estimated $226 million to help private companies develop small nuclear power plants that will start operating in the next 12 years.

The agency is dipping into a fund set up last year to extend more cost-sharing opportunities to companies looking to design and build small modular reactors, advanced nuclear units about the third the size of normal power plants.
