Pa. Enviros Plan Pollution Suit Over Coal Ash Disposal Site

Law360, New York (March 14, 2013, 7:11 PM EDT) -- Pennsylvania environmental group Citizens Coal Council said Wednesday that it plans to sue the owner of a large coal ash disposal site along the Monongahela River in Luzerne Township it claims has polluted groundwater and endangered public health.

The environmental group sent a 16-page letter to Matt Canestrale, president and CEO of Matt Canestrale Contracting Inc., notifying him that it plans to launch a federal suit alleging that his company’s coal waste mine dump in LaBelle, Pa., has been blowing toxic coal ash dust and leaking...
