Merck Puts Up $10M To Fix Creek Pollution

Law360, New York (December 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Merck & Co. Inc. agreed on Thursday to put up $10 million to cover cleanup costs and install pollution controls at a pharmaceutical and vaccine plant where a number of spills discharged toxins into a neighboring creek.

The pharmaceutical company's deal with the U.S. Justice Department is the most comprehensive remediation settlement ever reached in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and will fund extensive environmental projects, the department said on Thursday.
