US Asks WTO To Probe Indonesia Trade Barriers

Law360, New York (March 14, 2013, 6:25 PM EDT) -- The U.S. asked the World Trade Organization on Thursday to formally investigate its claims that Indonesian restrictions on plant and animal products discriminate against foreign goods.

U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said his office had asked the WTO for a dispute resolution panel to resolve long-standing American gripes over Indonesia's system of nonautomatic import licensing requirements for fruits, vegetables, meats, animal products, flowers, dried fruits and other goods.
