Sequester Could Slow Renewable Permitting, Markey Says

Law360, New York (March 14, 2013, 7:04 PM EDT) -- The Obama administration’s efforts to speed up permitting for renewable energy projects on public lands are paying off, but the agency budget cuts mandated by the sequester could impede that progress, a top Democrat warned Wednesday.

Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., unveiled a report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office showing permitting times have dropped for wind, solar and geothermal energy installations, but argued new permitting would see delays due to sequestration.
