GOP Lawmakers Seek Independent Watchdog For Judges

Law360, New York (March 15, 2013, 6:04 PM EDT) -- Two Republican lawmakers reintroduced legislation on Thursday to set up an independent watchdog for the federal judiciary by establishing an Office of Inspector General for the third branch of government, saying the current system of self-regulation by judges has been inadequate.

Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., each reintroduced their versions of the proposed Judicial Transparency and Ethics Enhancement Act, which would create an Office of the Inspector General to investigate possible judicial misconduct, waste, fraud and abuse, and recommend changes in laws...
