Senate Dems Seek Obama's Help On EPA Plant Emissions Rule

Law360, New York (March 18, 2013, 6:01 PM EDT) -- Four Senate Democrats on Thursday urged President Barack Obama to press the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to amend its proposed rule capping greenhouse gas emissions for new power plants, saying it would devastate the coal industry by effectively outlawing any new coal-fired plants.

The proposed rule, which would cap greenhouse gas emissions from new power plants at 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per megawatt-hour, already faces fierce opposition from Republicans and industry.
