Fla. House Panel Passes Ethics Bill Despite Concerns

Law360, Miami (March 19, 2013, 9:40 PM EDT) -- A Florida House of Representatives panel on Tuesday unanimously passed an ethics reform bill despite concerns that it doesn't go far enough to hold elected officials accountable.

The House State Affairs Committee's Ethics and Elections Subcommittee passed PCB 13-02, which prohibits dual public office holding, requires ethics training for state officials, prohibits public officers from voting on measures from which they stand to gain financially, and allows for garnishment of wages of public officials who have unpaid fines for financial disclosure violations.
