Judge Denies New Trial For Alpaca Deaths Case

Law360, New York (December 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The owners of an alpaca farm whose animals were sickened or killed by contaminated alpaca feed were unable to convince a federal court on Thursday that they deserved a new trial in order to garner a larger damages award.

Ohio-based Magical Farms Inc. and Majestic Meadows Alpacas Inc. sued Land O'Lakes Farmland Feed LLC in October 2003 after alpaca feed contaminated by salinomycin, an antibiotic lethal to alpacas, subsequently killed over 70 and injured over 100 animals.
