WTO Critiques Argentina Trade Policy, Transparency

Law360, New York (March 21, 2013, 7:08 PM EDT) -- The World Trade Organization on Wednesday voiced concern over the transparency of Argentina's economic data and said the South American nation's restrictive trading policies, which have been criticized by the U.S. and other nations, may be fueling inflation.

While Argentina has undertaken policies to stabilize the price of its exports in its domestic market thought the imposition of duties, the country's foreign trade policies are discouraging and driving up the price for imports and affect inflation, the WTO Secretariat said in a report.
