Sens. Seek Medicare Incentives For Telehealth Use

Law360, New York (March 21, 2013, 1:40 PM EDT) -- Two senators on Monday introduced a bipartisan bill to expand the use of home health care telehealth technology by Medicare, a move they said would cut down on expensive hospital readmissions in rural and other underserved communities.

The bill, S. 596, titled the Fostering Independence Through Technology Act, would require the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to establish a pilot program to provide incentives for home health agencies to purchase and use remote patient monitoring and communication, or telehealth, technology for certain Medicare beneficiaries....
