Coalition Requests FERC Investigation Into RTOs

Law360, New York (December 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A coalition of electricity consumers and advocacy organizations has asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to investigate “unreasonable” wholesale power prices in certain U.S. markets.

In a petition filed Monday with FERC, the 41-member coalition said the rates consumers paid in regional transmission organization, or RTO, market regions were consistently higher than the rates consumers paid in regulated market regions.
