Fla. Lawmakers Update Everglades Plan To Fund $880M Phase

Law360, Miami (March 21, 2013, 9:11 PM EDT) -- A new plan for restoration of the Everglades moved closer to adoption Thursday, as a Florida Senate panel and the full House amended corresponding bills to extend special taxes on area farmers in order to fund a revised $880 million final phase of work.

A final vote by the full House on H.B. 7065, sponsored by Rep. Matt Caldwell, R-Lehigh Acres, is scheduled for Friday. S.B. 768, sponsored by Sen. Wilton Simpson, R-Trilby, still has two more committees stops after passing 7-0 in the Senate Environmental...
