Obama Taps NRC Head Macfarlane For Full Term

Law360, New York (March 22, 2013, 5:28 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama on Thursday nominated U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chairman Allison Macfarlane, appointed to the top post last year after former Chairman Gregory Jaczko resigned amid controversy, to serve a full, five-year term.

Macfarlane, a George Mason University professor and nuclear waste expert, was confirmed by the Senate in June to fill out the remainder of Jaczko's term. Much of her time has been spent spearheading the NRC's contemplation of new regulations for U.S. nuclear plants in the aftermath of Japan's Fukushima nuclear disaster....
