Pa. Appeals Court Can't Tag AIG With $1.5M Gas Settlement

Law360, Philadelphia (March 25, 2013, 2:36 PM EDT) -- The Pennsylvania Superior Court ruled Friday that it lacked jurisdiction to force American International Group Inc. and Illinois National Insurance Co. to indemnify a gas company for a $1.5 million portion of a settlement with an individual who suffered severe burns stemming from a leak.

A three-judge panel determined that a trial court decision that denied summary judgment to Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania Inc. did not constitute a final order interpreting the terms of the insurance agreement, and as a consequence, was not appealable.
