House Rep. Targets ACA Exchange Forms' Voter Registration

Law360, New York (March 25, 2013, 7:43 PM EDT) -- The chairman of a House subcommittee on Monday questioned why the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services included an opportunity to register to vote in draft applications to buy health insurance on the Affordable Care Act's exchanges, suggesting the inclusion might be nefarious or lead to voter fraud.

Rep. Charles Boustany, R-La., who chairs the oversight panel of the House Ways and Means Committee, wrote to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius demanding to know who would be reviewing voter registration data and whether navigators charged with helping people apply for the exchanges would also be asking applicants about their voting status....
