Microsoft Faces EU Antitrust Complaint On Startup Controls

Law360, New York (March 26, 2013, 6:04 PM EDT) -- A Spanish open source software group asked the European Commission on Tuesday to investigate whether secure startup controls in Microsoft Corp.'s newest Windows operating system amounted to an abuse of the software giant's dominance.

Hispalinux filed a formal complaint against Microsoft with the EC, urging the antitrust watchdog to force Microsoft to modify its current requirements that computer-makers implement the company's "UEFI Secure Boot" in order to get certified for Windows 8.
