Ala. School District Slaps BP With Deepwater Suit

Law360, New York (March 27, 2013, 10:13 PM EDT) -- An Alabama school district on Tuesday sued BP PLC, Transocean Ltd. and Halliburton Co., blaming the companies for a loss of tax revenue and other income due to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

The Board of School Commissioners of Mobile County says in a complaint filed in Alabama federal court that the 2010 oil rig explosion has blighted the coastal county's environment and economy, leading to decreasing tax revenues, additional costs for public services, plunging property value and “a long-term stigma of the oil disaster.”...
