Tort Reform A Dead Issue In Election 2008

Law360, New York (December 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Tort reform is no longer a political hot potato and probably won't have much impact on the Presidential election campaign, observers say.

Nearly all of the presidential candidates have law degrees, so they likely have opinions on the matter. They have stayed largely silent because the issue does not currently resonate with voters, said Michael A. Pope, a partner at McDermott Will & Emery LLP.

“I don't see it being an issue in the campaign for president hardly at all,” Pope said.
