Federal Judge Who Emailed Racist Obama Joke Will Retire

Law360, New York (April 3, 2013, 6:40 PM EDT) -- The former chief judge of the Montana federal court will retire in May following a Ninth Circuit investigation into a racially charged email he sent about President Barack Obama, the Ninth Circuit said Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull will leave the bench on May 3 following a judicial misconduct investigation that the Ninth Circuit launched after Cebull admitted that he forwarded a racist email about the president to his friends from his office computer.
