Fla. Lawmakers Propel $74B Budgets As Medicaid Row Looms

Law360, Miami (April 4, 2013, 6:14 PM EDT) -- Although both chambers of the Florida Legislature moved budget appropriation bills forward Wednesday, a number of matters have yet to be resolved, most notably a struggle over Medicaid expansion plans.

The Senate Appropriations Committee put unanimous support behind its $74.3 billion budget, but the House's $74.4 billion plan passed by a 14-10 margin along party lines, with Democrats objecting to the Republican majority's leaving out Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act.
