Securities Litigation Held Steady In 2007

Law360, New York (January 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Though the past few years have brought a steady decline in federal securities litigation, the trend may be over. In 2007, securities filings increased for the first time in three years, in a reversal that experts say is here to stay.

Federal securities filings jumped 3% in last year, from 1,543 cases in 2006 to 1,593 cases in 2007, according to a Law360 survey of federal court dockets. Although the increase may not be huge, it is a significant departure from the steady decrease in securities...
