Unilever Faces Injunction, Antitrust Fine In Chile

Law360, New York (April 5, 2013, 4:46 PM EDT) -- Chile's antitrust watchdog lodged an injunction against Unilever Chile SA on Wednesday to bar the consumer goods giant from using unfair discounts to thwart rival laundry detergent brands and asked the country's competition court to fine the company roughly $20 million.

The National Economic Prosecutor filed its injunction with the the Chilean competition court, known by its Spanish acronym TDLC, over the incentives Unilever uses to keep wholesalers and grocery chains from ordering more products from rival detergent manufacturers, the agency said Thursday.
