No Primary Elections For Jury Commissioners, Pa. Judge Says

Law360, Philadelphia (April 5, 2013, 6:37 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania judge ruled Friday that county jury commissioners would not appear on the ballot for the May primary elections, and that political parties would instead nominate candidates for the posts for the November general election.

Commonwealth Court Judge James Gardner Colins was asked by the jury commissioners to rule on the issue after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court last month invalidated a state law allowing counties to abolish the office, finding that the legislation violated the single subject rule of the state’s constitution.
