Ted Stevens Prosecutors Win Reversal Of DOJ Suspensions

Law360, New York (April 8, 2013, 4:41 PM EDT) -- A federal judge Friday reversed the suspensions of two assistant U.S. attorneys who had been sanctioned for alleged “reckless regard” in withholding important evidence from the defense in the infamous corruption trial of the late Sen. Ted Stevens.

Administrative Judge Benjamin Gutman of the U.S. Merit Systems Protection Board said the U.S. Department of Justice violated its own procedures by appointing an agency manager as proposing official in the investigation of Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joseph Bottini and James Goeke.
