Sinopec Plans To Build China's Largest Coal-To-Gas Project

Law360, New York (April 8, 2013, 7:02 PM EDT) -- A subsidiary of China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., better known as Sinopec, plans to invest more than $11 billion over the next decade to construct's China's largest coal-to-gas project in order to meet the country's growing appetite for natural gas, according to a published report.

Sinopec unit Xinjiang Energy Chemical Co Ltd. said Sunday that it would construct coal gasification facilities in the northwestern region of Xinjiang capable of producing 8 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year, according to a Reuters report.
