Verizon-MCI Merger To Go Through In Pa.

Law360 (January 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has sided with the state utility commission, ruling that it was correct in approving Verizon Communications' purchase of MCI Inc. on the basis of likely public benefit.

On Dec. 27, Pennsylvania's highest court unanimously overturned a state court ruling that questioned state approval of the merger, reinstating the state Public Utility Commission's January 2006 order certifying it.
