Keystone XL Expedited Approval Bill Is Problematic, Rep. Says

Law360, New York (April 10, 2013, 2:59 PM EDT) -- Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., on Wednesday strongly criticized recently introduced legislation designed to allow TransCanada Corp.'s controversial Keystone XL pipeline to go ahead without presidential approval, saying the bill would subvert the process of law and lead to legal challenges.

According to Dingell, the bill — H.R. 3, titled the Northern Route Approval Act — would block the necessary transparency provided by the existing approval process for the 1,700-mile pipeline, and prevent people from airing their concerns about the project's impact on their communities.
